Mechwarrior 5 missing ui

Leaves us with the mystery of how an awesome ui from 2017 was last minute scrapped into the horrible basic ui we have now.

Given release was post-poned a year after the EPIC deal, and with xbox support and mobile support and the third person interference the cockpit HUD would have cause, rumours swirl that this last minute ui change was made to appease the publisher gods.

Likely the same reason PGI is seemingly completely avoiding this question, worrying they will unleash another round of mechwarrior rage.

With the assets for this ui still in the game files, I’m hopeful PGI will let us mod the ui with the mod tools, putting this to rest once and for all. Not holding my breath though as ui mods is not a given.

Unfortunate PGI was not able to include the old ui as a toggle option.

Watching the videos linked, you might also wonder why so many other features of the sim experience where dropped when launching into battle.

As some have noted, it appears PGI may have a talent for making games worse as development progresses, especially given that this seems to happen in every game they produce.

This is one of 5 files references in a folder NEW_HUD_TEST in the pak files for mechwarrior 5.

Maybe with some luck we can mod it back in.
